Shortly after releasing his much hyped KAWS Holiday Space Figures, KAWS returned with a new figure titled KAWS What Party. The figure is a return of the fan-favorite Chum character, which originally debuted in 2002, and came in five colors: black, white, orange, pink, and yellow.
Brian Donnelly, known professionally as KAWS is a multi-faceted artist straddling the worlds of art and design in his prolific body of work that ranges from paintings, murals, and large-scale sculptures to product design and toy-making. His iconic “XX” signature has its roots in the beginning of his career as a street artist in the 1990s, when he began altering found advertisements by incorporating his own masterful paintings. Evoking the sensibilities of Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg, KAWS possesses a sophisticated humor and thoughtful interplay with consumer products and collaborations with global brands. Kaws' sculptures range in size from a few inches to ten metres tall, and are made from various materials including fiberglass, aluminium, wood, bronze, and a steel pontoon inflatable raft.His work is exhibited in galleries and museums, held in the permanent collections of public institutions, and avidly collected by individuals including music producer Swizz Beatz, rapper Pharrell Williams, and members of South Korean boy band BTS.
