This KAWS 'What Party - Pink' hardcover book was released as part of the What Party Exhibit in 2020 - a book for each colorway in the 'What Party' series (pink, yellow, orange, black and white). To commemorate the exhibition, Phaidon teamed up with the Brooklyn Museum to launch an eponymous monograph that chronicles the artist’s prolific career from his early graffiti background to his groundbreaking projects in the global, contemporary art sector. Essays by Brooklyn Museum’s senior curator of contemporary art, Eugenie Tsai, alongside renowned Swedish art curator Daniel Birnbaum are also included in the book. A great addition to the living room coffee table or KAWS collection. 256 pages.

Brian Donnelly, known professionally as KAWS is a multi-faceted artist straddling the worlds of art and design in his prolific body of work that ranges from paintings, murals, and large-scale sculptures to product design and toy-making. His iconic “XX” signature has its roots in the beginning of his career as a street artist in the 1990s, when he began altering found advertisements by incorporating his own masterful paintings. Evoking the sensibilities of Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg, KAWS possesses a sophisticated humor and thoughtful interplay with consumer products and collaborations with global brands. Kaws' sculptures range in size from a few inches to ten metres tall, and are made from various materials including fiberglass, aluminium, wood, bronze, and a steel pontoon inflatable raft. His work is exhibited in galleries and museums, held in the permanent collections of public institutions, and avidly collected by individuals including music producer Swizz Beatz, rapper Pharrell Williams, and members of South Korean boy band BTS.
